It develops, hosts and markets Yelp.com and the Yelp mobile app, which publish crowd-sourced reviews about local businesses, as well as the online reservation service Yelp Reservations. The company also trains small businesses in how to respond to reviews, hosts social events for reviewers, and provides data about businesses, including health inspection scores. Yelp can be a useful tool for businesses if used properly. I have three tips for using Yelp successfully.
The first tip for using Yelp successfully is to immerse one's self in Yelp and read the profiles of one's competitors. Search Yelp for one's direct local competitors and click through to their profiles. Take a close look at those with 4+ star ratings and those with 3 and below. Seeing what businesses are doing right and what businesses are doing wrong can help improve one's Yelp. Another tip for using Yelp successfully is to complete your business’s Yelp profile. Having a fully featured profile that gives visitors all of the info one seeks is a must. High-quality pictures and a full bio will increase the success of one's Yelp page. Another tip for a successful Yelp page is to recognize the value of your customer reviews. Positive reviews can be a great thing for one's business to increase one's customer base. People want to go to businesses where other people have said its good because people don't want to waste time at a less then steller business. Negative reviews present a valuable opportunity for one as well. Whether one agrees with the critique or not, negative reviews bring up points of concern about one's business that one may have overlooked. Use this constructive criticism to improve one's customers’ experience.
Yelp is a very useful tool for customers and businesses as well. Researching competitors yelp pages, using high-quality photos and a fully filled out profile and using the value of customer reviews are great ways to have a successful Yelp page and increase one's company's business.

  1. I think you make some really good points about using Yelp for your business. I really agree with taking the complaints/bad reviews and doing your best to take that into account. Working on that as a business could prevent bad reviews in the future and overall help with customer satisfaction!
