Nike Jersey Rips
At the beginning of this blog, I wrote a post about the new NBA jerseys and how I was excited to see them in action. Well, the new NBA jerseys haven't been off to a good start. The idea of new jerseys swept the NBA with excitement for the creative possibilities. For the most part, the jerseys have been a success. The jerseys have looked good and fans seem to want to get one's hands on one's own jersey, I know I want a Jaylan Brown jersey. There only has been one downfall and its kind of a big one, the jerseys keep ripping midgame.
The ripping all started back on Septemeber 30; the Los Angeles Laker's first preseason game. For no real reason, Tyler Ennis's zero, from his number ten, was ripped off by a light tug. The second occurrence of the jersey's ripping was on October 18; the first season of the new NBA season. The game was Celtics vs. Cavaliers, and A slight tug from Jaylen Brown and that was it for LeBron’s jersey. LeBron's jersey split right down the middle, separating his two and three of his number 23 on his back. The third jersey ripping happened on October 27. On this date, half of Draymond Green's jersey was ripped off his back by Bradley Beal. Sure, the rip occurred during a fight, but the jersey shouldn't have ripped as badly as it did. The fourth jersey rip happened on November 3. Lance Stephenson pulled on the jersey of Ben Simmon a normal amount for a basketball game and the thing just fell apart. Ben Simmons's jersey was completely ripped off his shoulders. The last rip happened on November 5. Kevin Love was frustrated with the game against the Atlanta Hawks, so he grabbed his jersey and pulled. In doing so, Kevin Love rips his jersey. Most likely there will be more rips in the future.
With all of these problems so early in the season, Nike might have to do something to fix this problem. This is a PR nightmare for Nike since the Adidas jersey didn't rip at the rate that the Nike jerseys are ripping. It just makes the Nike jerseys look cheap, which will make people think all Nike products are cheap. Nike doesn't want this to be added to Nike's image.

I love Nike products but dang this really does not look good for them.

ReplyDeleteI'm really a fan of the new jerseys. I wish they weren't falling apart like this, and it looks really bad for Nike's product quality
