Amazon's New Headquarters Location

Amazon Inc, the tech giant, is the largest Internet-based retailer in the world by total sales and market capitalization. Amazon.com started as an online bookstore and later has grown into selling pretty much anything one can possibly imagine. If one is looking to buy something online, one is most likely going to search for it on Amazon. With Amazon's rapid growth, surpassing Walmart as the most valuable marketplace in the United States, multiple cities have placed bids to be the home to the new Amazon Inc. headquarters location. From big cities such as New York and Chicago to small regions such as Lehigh Valley. With all the paperwork done to be in the running, cities are now working on their communications and build momentum to win the bid for the second headquarters of Amazon. Amazon has pledged to invest more than $5 billion and hire 50,000 people for its second headquarters. Seattle, Washington, the location of Amazon's first headquarters, has experienced a population boom, rising housing prices, long periods of construction, and heavy traffic, due largely to an influx of tech workers. So many cities want the boost in population and overall growth to the city that Amazon's second headquarters would bring. The company said the ideal city would have at least 1 million people, an international airport, and a "stable and business-friendly environment.
One of the major cities that is trying to win the bid is Toronto. "We’re about to start a social media campaign that is targeted at Amazon employees because we know that Amazon is going to be surveying them on the second headquarters," says Toby Lennox, CEO of Toronto Global. Lennox is very confident that Toronto is a tech growth and wants Amazon to join Toronto's tech growth. I've heard people compare Toronto to an up-and-coming New York City. This could be an opportunity for Toronto to strick big and be the home to Amazon's second headquarters. Amazon could even try and get their logo on the Toronto Raptors jerseys since there has been a big push towards jersey advertising in the NBA this year.
The new Amazon Inc. Headquarters can bring a lot to many cities in the United States. Some Cities see it as a hinder to the city rather than a gain. Some side effects some cities are seeing are increasing traffic, spur gentrification and lead to prolonged construction. Most cities think that the benefits of the headquarters would out way the problems that will be associated with the headquarters.
If a city is for or against being the home to Amazon's new headquarters, one can see that this is big news in the tech world. Cities are ready to start up one's campaign to win the pursuit
of Amazon and it's new headquarters.

  1. I love amazon and I am not sure what I would be able to do without it. That is really cool how Toronto could be the second headquarters.

  2. Stealing my posts... thanks Josh. I saw this last week and was going to do it but decided on something else. I still might blog about this honestly. Amazon is awesome though and is surprising that they haven't expanded already.
