Strengths and Weaknesses: Boston Celtics

There are 30 teams in the National Basketball Association, but there is one that stands above the rest. That one is the Boston Celtics. Founded in 1946 and one of eight NBA teams (out of 23 total teams) to survive the league's first decade, the Boston Celtics have a long history. The Celtics, like all of the teams, have strength and weakness as an organization. Here the strengths and weaknesses I see in the Boston Celtics.

Strengths
The first major strength of the Boston Celtics is that they are the most successful NBA team in history. Since the beginning of the league, the Boston Celtics have won 17 championships. The Los Angeles Lakers are a close second with 16 championships, but the next closest is 6 championships. It's amazing that one team has all those wins. Another strength would be their loyal and huge fan base. Having a successful team makes it easy for fans to want to stick around and hope they win. It's easy to like winners. Another major strength the Boston Celtics have is Brad Stevens, their head coach. He is one of the top coaches in the league and he is very young. He can help bring in top talent to become title contenders once again. The last strength is the well-documented rivalry against Los Angeles Lakers. Everyone likes a good rivalry in anything, not just basketball. Competition makes the games more exciting.

Weaknesses
The first weakness that I can see with the Boston Celtics is that they don't have a great global fan base. It has been increasing since the additions of players like Al Horford, Gordon Hayward and Kyrie Irving, but it still isn't really where they could be. Another weakness is that they haven't won since 2008. For a fan base that is use to winning, this run is very disappointing for them. They are on the rise and could be title contenders very soon if not now.
