Sixers: PR Nightmare

The Philadelphia 76ers are one of the up-and-coming teams in the NBA. The last few drafts have been bountiful for the 76ers. Young players like Ben Simmons,  Dario Saric and Markelle Fultz will be a great young core for Philadelphia. One guy is their key guy to turn the franchise around, and his name is Joel Embiid. Embiid is a unique mix of physical prowess with a guard-like skill-set. The 7-footer can dribble and shoot like a guard, yet still take the ball down in the post. Due to this, he is probably going to seek the maximum possible contract when eligible. He does have his faults, The center played only 31 games in his NBA career, and injuries might be a concern for the future. Any team would take the risk though just because he does have the skill set to back that up. In addition to being so talented, Embiid is extremely popular with the fans because of his outgoing personality and social media engagement, as well as his rare basketball skill set for a man of his size. With the public on his side, the 76ers have to make a decision on his contract and if it's to not sign him to a max, that might be a PR nightmare for them due to the fans loving him. He is the face of the franchise, and he is the main reason why the 76ers are becoming more popular again like the days of Allen Iverson or Julius Erving. They will need to deal with the backlash of upset fans if they do not resign Embiid. Philadelphia has until October 31 to make a decision. Embiid is seeking $100 million over four years, but a deal is not yet close. The young core is pretty solid with or without Embiid, but having Embiid is a big difference maker.
