Fraternity Pinning

Pinning ceremonies are ritualistic celebrations held within the Greek community where a fraternity member gives his fraternity pin to a woman, symbolizing that he values his girlfriend more than his house. For many couples, a pinning is a milestone in their relationship that symbolizes intent to remain in a serious and committed relationship. In my fraternity, this weekend, our brother AJ decided he wanted to pin his fiancee Taylor. AJ said he felt bad he didn't give her a "proper" proposal, so he wanted to make the pinning the next best thing.
The plan started with AJ asked Taylor to go to a fancy dinner in Lima, so she'd be all dressed up for the occasion. When there are about to leave AJ said that they need to go stop by the Phi Mu Delta house he forgot something in the front house. Zach and I were waiting out front of the house pretending to be helping with sorority recruitment getting pictures. So as we distracted Taylor, AJ ran into the house which started the ceremony. One by one, the brothers walked out of the house handing Taylor a flower. The last person to walk out was AJ. He walks up to her and gets down on one knee to give her the proposal he wanted to give her through the pinning ceremony. It was a very romantic gesture AJ made.
This was very special because it was only the third pinning in our chapter's history since we were re-founded in 2014. These type of ceremonies are rare and very special. I'm very happy for AJ and Taylor and hope them the best!
